Completed Projects

India Food System Vision 2030 Report (2022)

A strategic document outlining a people-positive, climate-smart food future for India anchoring long-term planning for multi-sectoral transformation.

Published in July 2022, this report presents a holistic vision for India’s food systems, developed through consultations with over 200 experts over six months. Featuring 32 essays across three pillars: People (health and well-being), Planet (sustainable production), and Prosperity (inclusive growth), the report outlines a transformative agenda for a healthier, equitable, and climate-resilient food future. Supported by GIZ and CII-FACE, it serves as a strategic guide for multi-stakeholder action toward SDG-aligned outcomes.

Support for Rice Fortification at National Level (2022)

Provided technical and strategic support during the scale-up of rice fortification.
Mission alignment: Strengthens national nutrition through system-level intervention.

Food Future Foundation supported national efforts to expand rice fortification under India’s food safety net programmes to address widespread micronutrient deficiencies. With fortified rice now distributed across all ICDS and PM-POSHAN schemes and most PDS districts, the initiative focused on improving quality control and strengthening private-sector participation. Working with CHAI, FCI, the Department of Food and Public Distribution, and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the Foundation helped build an ecosystem to scale up fortification responsibly and ensure consistent, high-quality nutrition delivery nationwide.

ESG Food and Agriculture Benchmarking Initiative (2022)

Encourages responsible corporate behaviour aligned with health and sustainability.

Benchmarked India’s top 50 food and agriculture companies using the global methodology of the World Benchmarking Alliance and the UK’s Food Foundation. Conducted through SG Analytics, the study assessed 45 indicators across five pillars: nutrition, environment, social inclusion, governance, and strategy, and culminated in the India Food and Agriculture Benchmarking Report 2022. It revealed steady progress in industry disclosures, with food manufacturers showing strong ESG and nutrition performance. Building on this, Food Future Foundation and CII-FACE are enhancing sector-wide benchmarking capacity through seminars and sensitization initiatives to promote responsible business, informed investment, and a healthier, more sustainable food system.

Technical Support to the Government of Andhra Pradesh on Fortified Chikki

Provided technical advisory to the Government of Andhra Pradesh for fortifying Peanut-Jaggery Chikki distributed under the Jagananna Gorumudda mid-day meal programme. Aimed at improving the nutrition of over 3.4 million schoolchildren, the fortified Chikki includes iron, folic acid, and vitamin B12 to support child growth and development while preserving its natural taste and quality. This initiative demonstrates how traditional foods can be enhanced to deliver better nutrition at scale.
